Buttery Scones & Divine Tea Jam at TWG
TWG is one of my favourite places to chill over delicious Scones and quality tea while visiting Marina Bay Sands.
Scones @ $9 for 2 pieces (a la carte)
Served with Whipped Cream & TWG Tea Jelly. Available as part of a set menu.
I fell in love with scones after having some of the best scones ever while visiting Cornwall with Insight Travels a long time ago. The scones at TWG are fragrant and crumbly with a soft core. The buttery scone was well-complemented with the sweet and slightly tart flavour of the raisins that dotted it. A Must-Try at TWG.
Whipped Cream & Tea Jelly for the Scones
Devonshire Cream Teas are typically served with clotted cream and jam but it's hard to get clotted cream in Asia so we usually get butter or whipped cream with scones at most cafes. Giving it their own twist, TWG serves their scones with whipped cream and TWG Tea Jelly.
The flavour of the tea jelly varies as they rotate the flavours to offer regulars a variation. If given a choice, request for the TWG Geisha Blossom Tea Jelly. A refreshing blend of green tea and southern fruits, it can be addictive and thankfully, you can bring some home with you to share with your loved ones.
Delicate-tasting without being too sweet the Geisha Blossom Tea Jelly added a fruity and slightly tangy touch to the scone and whipped cream combo. The Scones and Geisha Blossom Tea Jelly are a Must-Try at TWG.
Scrambled Eggs @ $19 (a la carte)
Fresh farmhouse eggs scrambled with a choice of Matcha, pure Saffron threads or White Alba Truffle Oil.
Served with Smoked Salmon & Salad of Shrimps and Mixed Greens. Available as part of a set.
During a visit to TWG last weekend, we ordered the "Gourmet" set from from the Brunch Menu. Priced at $40, the set comprises a pot of TWG Tea (supplement for teas over $11), freshly squeezed orange or apple juice, Scrambled Eggs, French Brioche Toasts served with TWG Tea Jelly and a choice of a TWG Tea Patisserie from the trolley. The Scrambled Eggs were fairly fluffy and fragrant with the distinctively pleasant aroma of White Alba Truffle. It was just a little bland though but that was easily fixed by sprinking some sea salt over the eggs. The Shrimps were firm, juicy and sweet. This dish is worth a try if you love scrambled eggs.
Singapore Surprise from TWG's Patisserie Trolley
This came as part of the Gourmet Brunch set. We couldn't make up our minds and went with the service staff's suggestion. The Singapore Surprise is like Crème Brûlée albeit in a pie form. Comprising a rich, fluffy custard and raspberries, this wasn't the prettiest dessert in the trolley but was surprisingly good. I especially loved the perfectly caramelized crust. A Must-Try if you're visiting TWG.
1837 Black Tea
TWG Tea's renowned signature blend of black tea with notes of fruits and flowers from
the Bermuda triangle which leaves a lingering aftertaste of ripe berries, anise & caramel
Most of my friends know that I love coffee but not many of them know that I love tea too and used to really love to indulge in High Tea. TWG has an extensive tea selection to pique your curiosity and to suit different tastes.
