FHM (Fried Hokkien Mee) Stall in the Basement of Parkway Parade

SH and I met for a very late lunch at the basement foodcourt in Parkway Parade last weekend.
FHM wrapped in Opeh Leaf to keep it hot, hot, hot
We both love Fried Hokkien Mee so we ordered the same dish. The noodles were served wrapped in Opeh Leaf to keep them warm and to add fragrance. It's a quaint and charming way of serving a local hawker favourite considering how other hawkers simply slap the noodles onto a plate (sometimes with a small square of Opeh Leaf) and serve it up.

FHM Unwrapped
Fried Hokkien Mee @ S$4

Unwrapping the Opeh Leaf parcel, our nostrils were greeted by the fragrance of the Fried Hokkien Mee.

FHM on my spoon

The noodles were fairly firm to the bite and had absorbed the tasty flavours of the broth that they had been cooked in. I like Fried Hokkien Mee to have some gravy rather than the drier version so I was pleased that they serve it quite a bit of gravy here. The seafood was very sweet and fresh. The chives and beansprouts added a slightly crunchy texture to the dish and the dish was seasoned adequately.
FHM (Fried Hokkien Mee) Dude!
The last time I ate here with my mum, the dish was cooked by another helper. It was a little bland and she told me that the plump guy cooked it much better and I should try it if I see the plump guy at the stove. SH and I were in luck for the plump guy was the one who cooked our Fried Hokkien Mee that day. This is worth a try if you are in the vicinity and spot the plump guy at the stove.
