Hot Chocolate at Au Chocolat, Marina Bay Sands
After all the Chinese New Year posts, it's time to take a Hot Chocolate break. A few weeks back, I caught up with friends for lunch at Marina Bay Sands. As it was raining heavily and we had time to kill, we lingered in the mall. We settled in Au Chocolat, a Singapore-born chocolate-centric bistro cum confiserie.

I've always loved Hot Chocolate as a child and that has remained a constant favourite even though I gradually lost interest in some other childhood favourites as I grew older. Nothing can be more comforting for me than a warm cup of rich chocolate drink on a cold or trying day.
Though I was still full from lunch, I couldn't help but order a cup of Hot Chocolate, a signature drink at Au Chocolat. The rich, dark chocolate concoction was served topped with 2 marshmallows. It reminded me of Christmas and was an awesome tummy warmer on a cold, rainy afternoon in an air-conditioned mall. The consistency was so thick, I'm sure it would hold a Churro if I stuck one into it. The marshmallows melted quickly when stirred into the Hot Chocolate adding sweetness and creaminess to the drink. However, given a choice, I'd trade the marshmallows for warm, crisp and fluffy churros dusted with cinnamon sugar anytime. Unless you don't like rich chocolate drinks, this is definitely a Must-Try!
I must confess, I hate going to Marina Bay Sands because the parking charges are high and finding a carpark lot can be a major pain in the posterior. That said, I will probably visit Au Chocolat again to try other items on the menu and to browse the merchandise in the confiserie. The whimsical decor and candy-coloured packaging somehow made me think of a Disney store mashed up with the Mad Hatter's Tea Cup ride to the tunes of "The Unbirthday Song". A nice pick-me up on a gloomy, rainy afternoon.
