Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus, Singapore

Opened in June 2017, Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus is a modern casual dining restaurant in Savourworld at Science Park offering comforting hot bowls of la mian and steamers filled with northern Chinese-style dumplings to workers in the nearby offices and medical facilities.  I was glad to be able to join Heat Branding for a media tasting at Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus a week before leaving Singapore.

The interior at Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus, Singapore

Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus has a rather small food menu comprising 10 main courses, 11 sides and 7 types of charcoal-grilled skewers (the skewers are only available after 5 pm).

Grilled King Prawn "Lao Gan Ma" Noodles (La Mian) @ S$16 at Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus

Grilled King Prawn "Lao Gan Ma" La Mian

A popular choice, the Grilled King Prawn "Lao Gan Ma" Noodles (SGD 16 / USD 11.80) features savoury and springy noodles served with a grilled prawn and a dollop of spicy "Lao Gan Ma" Sichuan chili sauce. As I love chili, I enjoyed this dish for the zing and how well the roasted chili went with the grilled king prawn. However, if I had to pick just one noodle dish, it would be the next one.

Signature Crispy Pork Lard Truffle Noodles @ S$12 at Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus, Singapore

Signature Crispy Pork Lard Truffle La Mian

Though this bowl seems plain in comparison to the decadent-looking bowl of King Prawn Noodles, it was no less flavourful albeit without the spicy kick from the chili sauce and umami from the prawn. Toss the springy noodles with the crisp and juicy golden brown cubes of deep-fried pork lard for a lovely mix of textures. Drizzled with earthy truffle oil, this dish was addictive and had us reaching out for more even though we were feeling pretty full. The Signature Crispy Pork Lard Truffle Noodles at Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus is a Must-Try!

Handmade Minced Pork Dumpling Noodle Soup @ S$12 at Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus, Singapore

Unfortunately, I misplaced my camera's SD card during my move from Singapore to the US so I don't have more photos to show of our lunch at Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus. In addition to the two noodle dishes mentioned above, we also tried the Handmade Minced Pork Dumpling Noodles Soup (@ SGD 12 / USD 8.90 - pictured above), Braised Minced Pork "Lu Rou Fan" Rice, Drunken Chicken Drumstick, Poached Beansprouts with Crispy Salted Fish, Tea-Flavoured Egg with Five Spice and Chili Pomelo Crabmeat & Minced Pork Xiao Long Bao. We enjoyed the flavourful braised minced pork over rice in the Taiwanese-style "Lu Rou Fan" dish, the succulent Shao Xing Wine-infused Drunken Chicken Drumstick, the aromatic Tea-Flavoured Egg that was made with Tie Guan Yin tea and five spices as well as the Chili Crab Xiao Long Bao. The Handmade Minced Pork Dumpling Noodles is a less decadent option in comparison to the spicy Grilled King Prawn "Lao Gan Ma" Noodles and Crispy Pork Lard Truffle Noodles but I thought it was not quite as tasty as the other two.

Chili Pomelo Crabmeat & Minced Pork Xiao Long Bao @ S$9 for 4 pieces

Chili Pomelo Crabmeat & Minced Pork Xiao Long Bao

Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus offers a Xiao Long Bao version of the signature Chili Pomelo Stuffed Crab Claw dish from Blue Lotus Chinese Eating House at Sentosa. Served in bamboo steamers, the little Chili Pomelo Crabmeat & Minced Pork Xiao Long Bao (SGD 9 / USD 6.65 for 4 dumplings) packed a spicy punch within a thin, pliable dumpling skin. If you need help to overcome the burn from the chili, order a bottle of Blue Lotus all-natural Soya Bean Milk to "put out the fire in your mouth".

PS: Thank you, Chinese Noodle Bar by Blue Lotus and Heat Branding, for hosting me.
