Ristorante Pizzeria Giuseppe's A Hidden Gem at Greenwood
Ristorante Pizzeria Giuseppe caught our attention while we were having dinner at Shelter in the Woods. It was the only empty restaurant in the area on a Friday night. We had to check it out.
Pizza ai Quattro Formaggi @ $20 Mozzarella, Gorgonzola, Parmigiano & Parmesan Cheese
Unlike the versions served at many restaurants, each quarter of the pizza was topped with only one type of cheese. The crust was crisp on the outside but soft on the inside and wasn't too chewy. The Pizza ai Quattro Formaggi at Ristorante Pizzeria Giuseppe is a Must-Try!
Scotatto in Padella ai Frutti di Mare @ $20 Assorted seafood pan-seared in flavoured olive oil & served with salsa verde (traditional Italian green sauce)
The perfectly cooked seafood was juicy with a caramelized flavour. I was expecting a more herby Salsa Verde but it was nonetheless a delicious complement to the seafood.
Fried Assorted Vegetables
The firm vegetables were lightly battered before being deep-fried. I liked the crunchy texture and the smoky flavour of the browned crust.
Risotto ai Funghi @ $23 A classic risotto dish from the Piemonte region: Arborio rice with Porcini mushrooms, button mushrooms & white wine topped with parmesan cheese. * please allow at least 30 minutes prep time
The risotto was al dente and packed with mushrooms but a little too bland. Thankfully, there were shavings of Parmesan Cheese to add flavour.
Spaghetti Aglio Olio e Peperoncino @ $17 Spaghetti, Garlic, Olive Oil, Chili & Parsley
Aside from being slightly bland, this dish was well-executed. The al dente pasta had been given a spicy kick due to the addition of sliced chili padi. This is worth a try.
Bistecca alla Griglia @ $29 Ribeye steak marinated in a pepper-mustard oil infusion, chargrilled & topped with anchovy herb butter
This dish caught my eye even though I prefer to have steak seasoned with salt and pepper. It sounded like an interesting combination of flavours. The umami-rich anchovy and herb butter added a creamy touch to the flavourful sauce. The tender steak bore a hint of spice from the pepper-mustard oil infusion. The browned potatoes were great for mopping up the sauce with. This is a Must-Try!
Bread & Butter Pudding with Orange Zest
The bread had absorbed the flavours of the rich custard which was tangy due to the orange zest. This dessert is worth a try.
Tiramisu
The flavours of the Tiramisu were well-balanced. The bitter coffee and cocoa was tempered by the creamy sweetness of the mascarpone cheese. Not too alcoholic, this was a nice sweet end to the meal.
During dinner, we noticed passersby looking in curiously. I guess it's because the restaurant is virtually empty except for our table. What a pity as they serve decent food at reasonable prices! I'm looking forward to trying other dishes on my next visit.
